Plenty of big releases are awaited in the last quarter of 2009
Two big films releases are coming up in Bollywood cinema during the 2009 Diwali festival. Blue A multistarrer action film with underwater stunts, the film has Akshay Kumar, Lara Dutta, and Sanjay Dutt with Katrina Kaif in a guest appearance. Kylie Minogue performs an item number with singer Sonu Nigam. Akshay and Katrina have delivered many hits together (Namaste London, Welcome, Singh is King) and will be again seen together in De Dana Dan. Main aur Mrs Khanna This is an emotional love triangle starring Salman Khan and Kareena Kapoor. They play a married couple whose lives are turned upside down after a stranger enters the scene and falls in love with the wife. It is pitched against Blue for Diwali 2009, and speculation is rife as to who will emerge the winner. Another multistarrer, this time with Ajay Devgan, Salman Khan and Southern heroine Asin. The story is based on a rock group whose lead singers are arch rivals in love with the same girl. Ajay Devgan plays a streetsmart musician who is jealous of his rival's success both on and off stage. This will be Asin's second Bollywood film, after her successful debut in Aamir Khan's Ghajini. 3 Idiots Aamir Khan wll be again seen in a Christmas release. 3 Idiots is directed by Raju Hirani and based on the popular novel Five point someone by Chetan Bhagat. It also stars Kareena Kapoor and R Madhavan. Kites Kites has probably been in the news more than any other Bollywood film for a variety of reasons. Directed by Anuraag Basu, the film stars Hrithik Roshan, Mexican model and actress Barbara Mori, and Kangna Ranaut in lead roles. It will be released in both Hindi and Spanish versions and is said to feature an 'international' love story. Hrithik Roshan plays a salsa dance instructor in this home production by Raakesh Roshan, and Barbara Mori a dance student. The only problem is that the two speak different languages and do not understand one another very well. The lead pair chemistry is said to be terrific. Initially slated for a Diwali release, it will hit the big screens either in December or January. Anuraag Basu's past hits include Murder, and Life in a Metro, and according to him "Kites will be the hit of 2009". Other releasesRanbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif pair up for a romantic comedy 'Ajab prem ki ghazab kahani'. The music has just been released and the film is eagerly awaited.
